For the last two weeks of August, we were in Westfield, PA responding to another flood. This flood was caused by hurricane Debbie, by moving at a snail's pace up the east coast.
Levi (Ryan’s brother), our intern, took a week off of school to come help as well. In the photo above, Ryan and Levi had just finished mucking out the basement. When the water rose, mud settled in the basement. A good chunk of the homes were like this, and others had water on the first floor. Many of these homes were old, passed-down-through-many-generations type homes, so they had hardwood flooring and plaster instead of drywall.
Sarah spent the week cleaning the facilities, which was a chore due to the amount of dirt that was tracked back from the jobsites.
Not too far from headquarters was an ice cream shop that had 180 flavors! Let's just say we went and got ice cream a couple times. White Lighting (dark chocolate and mint) was Sarah’s favorite.
